Some of the tasks, topics, and levels of our participation include:
Environmental Scanning
We’ll set the playing field for the next year to five years in your specific
industry, organization, or situation. External opportunities, threats, contingencies,
competitor strengths, non-forecasted competition can all be covered.
Scenario Development
The best plans are those that work within a range of possibilities.
Scenarios are the alternative pictures of the future that set a foundation for your
flexible preparation for the future. We’ll facilitate the development of
alternative scenarios for the future and bring you the experience of a wide cross-section
of industries and fields. This process expands thinking, identifies opportunities, brings groups together,
and develops robust strategies for the future.
Implication Development
This process builds a strong foundation for action. By examining successive layers of implications based on
market developments, competition, potential tactics, or any other factor a clearer view of strategic options is
revealed. Our clients have used this technique for a wide range of situations in order to bring multiple minds
to bear, create robust alternatives, and to gain perspective in order to avoid operational mistakes.
"Directions"
More and more organizations are seeking not a single "best plan" for the future,
but a set of "directions." These overall "strategic intents" allow movement within
an organization toward a range of future possibilities in terms of new markets,
better processes, improved customer relationships, and a stronger team effort.
A unique group "mind-mapping" exercise gets more participation and develops a
sharper focus for the organization.
Goal-Setting and Tactical Plans
Taking the directions to the implementation stage, this is the traditional
process where a step-by-step plan for the immediate future is developed.
Optional in full facilitation.
Full Facilitation
All of the above steps can be facilitated for your goal-setting or strategy meeting
or retreat. We can add design, tracking systems, and consulting to aid in
after-meeting usage.
